Kelly and Justin's Beach Wedding!

I had the honor of assisting and officiating Kelly and Justin's lovely beach wedding on August 15th. I had been working on Kelly's wedding with her for the past several months while she planned everything from Tallahassee, and it was so exciting to finally meet her in person. She looked absolutely stunning with her taffeta ball gown and birdcage veil.

Their wedding took place on Treasure Island beach, which is a location I personally enjoy because it is more secluded than some of the other beach areas. As I drove over from Tampa, a huge rainstorm was tailing me and I had my fingers crossed that it would clear up before wedding time because I knew how much Kelly wanted that beach wedding. When ceremony time came around, it was a huge downpour, so we waited. And 10 minutes later.... the skies cleared and we were able to set back up on the beach and have the wedding she and Justin had dreamed of! The cloudy skies also made an even more beautiful backdrop for the photos. It was a really emotional ceremony with many tears (happy ones!) and I barely made it through my script to be honest. I have this thing that when people cry, I cry. But we made it through and the ceremony turned out fabulous. :)

Lawrence Photography captured the day and I enjoyed meeting Stephen for the first time. He sent me over some great photos for me to share on my blog, and I really appreciate it! Kelly and Justin, it was wonderful working with you and I wish you all the best in your future together!

Romie & Mark

Several weeks ago, I photographed a wedding for one of our brides. I am a photography fanatic, and it has always been a hobby of mine. I was truly honored that Romie and Mark asked me to shoot their wedding! :)

I am still in the process of editing some of the pictures, but I thought I would go ahead and share some of my favorite portrait type shots. It was a super hot day, but they were really good sports!

Romie and Mark are expecting - so we did a few pictures to show off their new family! Here is one of my favorites.

I will share more pictures in the coming weeks, but would love to hear your comments and feedback on the images I have posted.

This wedding was proof that with some professional assistance, it is possible to plan a wedding in as little as 30 days and still have everything turn out beautiful! We really enjoyed the challenge and had a blast working with Romie, Mark and their families.

I also gained a whole new respect for all the professional photographers we work with! I never realized how physically demanding the job is, not to mention how tough it is to capture images with so many people around!

Congratulations once again to Romie and Mark! We hope that you are enjoying married life!

Save the Date - An Affair with Share

Beth and I were recently brought on to help plan and coordinate a local non-profit organization's first annual charity event. When we got involved, they only had secured a venue, date, and catering. Things have progressed greatly in a short time as we have gotten entertainment, linens, florals, lighting, and other wonderful vendors to join us for this great event. An Evening Affair with SHARE is going to be held Sept. 30th, so mark your calendars now because it's going to be fun and fabulous. For more information about SHARE, visit www.shareflorida.org.

Wedding Inspiration Boards

One of the things Beth and I do as wedding planners is assist our clients in coming up with a vision for their event. We take their ideas or colors and create an inspiration board, which is a collection of photos and ideas that they like. Once the board is created, it helps to see how things will look together - which is especially helpful to those brides who really have trouble visualizing something without seeing it. We haven't posted our inspiration boards on our blog in the past, but we realized it might be a good thing since it can help others who might have a similar style. So here is our first posted inspiration board-- I made this one a few months ago for our clients who are getting married in September at the Safety Harbor Resort. They wanted a romantic feel with colors of the sunset, with stronger accents of reds and golds. They also have an underlying kind of old Spanish vibe to pay homage to their heritage. So take a look at their inspiration board and keep checking back for photos of their wedding next month! :)

I created this next board for one of our couples getting married in March at a beautiful country club. They knew they wanted to do pool blue as their main color with white accents, but they weren't sure what other colors would coordinate. They definitely wanted something that felt very light and bright for their spring wedding. I made them this board to show them one of their options for another accent color, which is a bright fuschia. The bride loves orchids, so I made sure they were well represented in this inspiration board.

Tricia and Jay's Black and White Wedding

I really enjoyed working with Tricia the past few months on her wedding. We were recommended to Tricia by another vendor, and although we were just brought on for day-of-coordinating, we did help her to hire a few of her other wedding vendors since she was planning from Tennessee. Everything came together just as planned - she was very organized and detail oriented but it was great to see her finally able to relax and hand everything over to me on her wedding day.

The day started off with Darla Stafford working her magic with hair and makeup at the bride's hotel. The ceremony was held at the historic Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Ybor City, which was founded in 1890. I love old Tampa churches and the vintage feel of Ybor City. We then headed over to Jackson's Bistro for the reception.

I loved Tricia's style because it was sleek, contemporary, and sophisticated, with a few modern twists here and there. For example, Tricia's Alfred Angelo gown was a somewhat traditional A-line strapless dress, but it had a striking black train down the back. Her color scheme was black and white with a deep red accent. The florals, provided by Carmen's Flowers, mostly consisted of gerbera daisies which are Tricia's favorite flower. Because the reception was at Jackson's in their Waterfront Room, there wasn't a need for overly elaborate decor. The view is the main focus with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the water and the city skyline on 3 walls. Tricia chose a few specific decor elements to enhance the room and her vision, such as the unusual chair sash designs and the lounge seating with black leather ottomans. All of the guests had a great time dancing the night away, and we ended the evening with a sparkler sendoff as Tricia and Jay departed.

I really enjoyed working with Jason Angelini again and I know he is going to have some great photos because Tricia and Jay allowed for a ton of photo time, which is always a plus. Grant Hemond DJ's provided the music and emceeing, but this time we had Rob Vollmer who I hadn't worked with before. He was a lot of fun and I really liked how he got to know the guests and interacted with them. I can't wait to work with him again in the future. The Jackson's staff was attentive as always and it was a pleasure to work again with their events coordinator, Rebecca Samora. Jackson's also provided the black leather lounge seating which the guests really enjoyed. The modern white cake with black ribbon detail was created by the new Publix Greenwise in Hyde Park - haven't been there yet but my friends are raving about it.
All in all, this wedding was an absolute pleasure to coordinate. I loved getting to know Tricia and Jay's family and working with all of the great vendors who pulled the event together. Tricia and Jay, congratulations and best wishes!! Here are a few of my person photos from the day... professional photos coming soon!
